Yesterday, Jenny and I turned 21 years old! It was the type of thing this year, where I already felt 21 for maybe a month prior to my birthday, but yesterday just made it official.
Colin and I were supposed to go spend the day at Canada's Wonderland for the first time on Sunday. But unfortunately the weather network was calling for rain, so we decided that we will wait for a nice day in either June or July. That way, we get the full experience with water slides, and not having to deal with the rides being shut down because of rain.
So instead of seeking thrills, we spent the day in Toronto shopping. Now, neither Colin or I like shopping- in fact, we almost loathe it and will do anything to avoid it- especially clothes shopping. The only kind of shopping we enjoy is hunting through the racks of value village- so that's the first place we checked out. After buying some clothes for Mozambique, we went to the Mountain Equipment Co-op store and bought a 2 person tent for camping on our way to Saskatchewan, as well as in Africa.
Finally, Colin waited ever so patiently as I checked out several small boutiques, in search for a beach style, 3/4 length, white dress for our wedding. When we didn't find anything there, we gave the infamous Eaton Centre a shot, but I still came out empty handed. I was satisfied to at least have a look at what's in stores- though clearly, white is not the colour this summer.
Colin ended our busy day by eating Fish and Chips at Kelseys and reminiscing over our childhood memories. I absolutely love Fish and Chips and it was Colin's first time eating it at a restaurant (and not from a box)- what an experience!

Ode to Tim Hortons!
This summer I'm trying desperately to get full-time day shifts at Tim Hortons. To my delight, I got some day shifts last week, but wanted to throw myself into the oven the whole time that I was there. I honestly found myself watching the clock constantly and gazing out the drive-thru window sighing as a beautiful day was slipping by. I felt bored and restless throughout the 8 1/2 hour shift as I found myself doing tedious jobs. By the end of my first shift, I couldn't believe that I actually had to go back there again for another full day.
But now that I've worked more day shifts, things have definitely changed. Well. .I guess I've changed. I've really started to enjoy the people that I work with. Maybe I have been with Tim Hortons too long and the job is getting boring- but at least these people are new to me! Lately, my shifts have been going by fairly quickly as I've begin to socialize more and do less tedious jobs, like the sandwich area and baking.
A week ago, I was counting down how many days I would have to endure more muffin peddling . I figured that at least I only had less than two months. But now, Colin and I's plans have changed. Instead of going to South Korea in July for 5 weeks, we will be going to the missions school in Mozambique, Africa for a couple of months, starting in October. So now I will be at Tim Horton's until mid-August! In August, we will be heading to Windsor to visit, then to Saskatchewan, having our wedding, and then staying there until October. And it'll be so long to hair nets, roll up the rim, and waxies!
But maybe I should cherish my Tim Horton's time while I can. A part of me is glad that I haven't attended my last staff meeting, brewed my last pot of coffee, or dipped my last vanilla dip donut with sprinkles.
Tim Hortons. . you may not be "always fresh". .but you've always been good to me.

The Engagement
I must first say- I never thought that I would ever get married! But when something is the right thing, there is such a peace and a knowing on the inside. And that's what I've experienced, as Colin and I have been engaged for a couple of days now.
It was on May 1st, after a home cooked meal at his house, that he knelt in front of me in the candle light and asked me to marry him. I had no hesitation because I know (more than I know most things) that Colin is the one for me.
Colin had already asked my dad permission, and so the next day I was eager to call him and tell him my good news. Colin's parents were equally happy, and excited to have the wedding at their home in LaRonge, Saskatchewan.
I am very excited to have our wedding at the house that Colin grew up in. We're going to have the wedding in Colin's backyard. If I were to get married, I had always wanted a backyard wedding, and Colin's mom has always wanted one of her three boys to exchange vows in her backyard as well.
The date that we are planning for is September 6th- after we get back from South Korea. But now is definitely a time to plan and research. Although the wedding will be very simple, there are still details to pull together, especially before we leave at the end of July. Colin and I also need to get an idea of what options we have for missions trips after we return from South Korea. My friends, there is truly nothing like serving Jesus and living a life surrendered to Him!!
